What is the punishment for gbh?

GBH (grievous bodily harm) is a criminal offence which is covered by Sections 18 and 20 of the Offences Against the Person Act. Sections 20 carries a maximum sentence of 5 years while sections 18 can in some cases result in life imprisonment, with rare cases of over 10 years.
